The 'Loose Women' panellist is to play Mrs. Slocombe in the upcoming series, but she is "nervous" about the portrayal because her good friend Mollie did such a good job in the role in the original 1970s sitcom.

She said: "I am playing Mrs. Slocombe and it starts in 1988 when 'Are You Being Served?' finished so it goes from there. It is written by Derren Litten who writes 'Benidorm' and it is a brilliant brilliant funny script.

"I am going to have coloured hair.

"I knew Mollie and she was a wonderful actress, but more importantly she was a very very lovely lady, and I worked with her. She is wonderful.

"I am very nervous because it is so iconic and you want to do everybody proud, particularly Molly because I knew her."

Sherrie will appear alongside her former 'Coronation Street' co-star Roy Barraclough, who will play Mr. Grainger, Gavin and Stacey's Mathew Horne (a young Mr. Grainger), and 'Trollied' actor Jason Walker (Mr. Humphries), and she believes the cast complements the original series which aired from 1972 to 1985.

Speaking on 'Loose Women', she added: "The characters are so well defined.

"Roy Barraclough, I have to say he is exactly Mr. Grainger as well. Young Mr. Grainger is a young Mr.Grainger, who is Mat Horne, who I absolutely adore. Oh my heart throbbed too. Niky Wardley (Miss Brahms) she is fabulous.

"It is so exciting, I cannot tell you."
