The 54-year-old talent show boss - who sat on the panel with fellow judges Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Mel B and Louis Walsh - has revealed his true feelings on the 2014 reality TV contest and said it was all just "predictable".

He said: "It felt very predictable during the live shows. There were a load of people we knew weren't going to win who we just had to put through week after week. We knew one of them was itching to get out so he could go in the bloddy jungle (Jake Quickenden) but that's just one example of why it was irritating."

He added: We did the room auditions, then you go to Wembley (for the arena stage) and it was like ground hog day. The same thing again but with a bigger crowd."

But the music mogul has branded 'The X Factor' 2015 as "The Next Generation" and has made plans to change the format.

He told The Sun TV Magazine: "We're going to make some changes to the live shows so the contestants have much more of an incentive to do better in the competition. We're going to change how the judges categories are given out as well. I think the public will choose. So we're going to have to beg the viewers!"
