Stephen Mangan would star in a 'Green Wing' revival - but only if he was "desperate for money".

The 49-year-old actor starred as Guy Secretan in the hit show which ran from 2004 to 2006, alongside long-time collaborator Tamsin Greig, and admitted despite the series not winning many awards, it will always be the work he is "most proud of", whilst quipping he would return if he was low on funds.

He told RadioTimes: "Maybe in five years we'll be desperate for the money... It'll always be one of the things I'm most proud of.

"It didn't really win any awards because of 'Little Britain' was out at the same time. That won everything.

"David Walliams would just keep coming down from the podium holding his award and flick us the Vs."

The comedy show was set in a hospital but didn't use any medical storylines, and instead featured more soap opera-style twists and turns in the lives of the characters.

Stephen and Tamsin starred alongside Olivia Colman, Michelle Gomez, Paterson Joseph, Julian Rhind-Tut and Mark Heap.

Meanwhile, the actor - who is known for comedy series 'Episodes', which starred Tamsin and Matt Le Blanc - says while he is a huge fan of 'Strictly Come Dancing', he would never want to take part in the ballroom and latin show.

He said: "I loved 'Stranger Things' and 'Blue Planet II'.

"'Strictly', too, but I wouldn't go on it because nobody needs to see me in a pair of tight trousers with a shaved chest."

And Stephen - who is married to Louise Delamere - admitted that he agreed to be on the 'Game of Thrones' discussion show 'Thronecast', but realised that he hadn't watched any of the award-winning HBO programme's episodes.

He said: "I agreed to go on the 'Game of Thrones' discussion show 'Thronecast' but I hadn't actually seen any of it.

"Then I realised the fans are so fanatical they'd tear me limb from limb, so I sat down and watched hours of it for two weeks - I took notes, did family trees.

"It was like doing an A-level."
