With DC's latest on-screen adaptation of comic book material, we'll see Supergirl come to CBS later this year with a show that's now currently in production, recently adding Peter Facinelli to the cast as recurring character Maxwell Lord.

This week has also brought news of Chris Browning joining the cast according to THR, who will be stepping into the shoes of Ben Krull, a man better known by his villain name Reactron.

Reported to be headed to National City to hunt down Melissa Benoist's Kara Zor-El, he wants revenge against Superman and thinks going after Supergirl is the best way to do so. Browning will first appear in episode three and is likely to become a recurring character in the future.

In the comic book universe, Reactron wears a nuclear-powered suit of armour so that he can go up against DC heroes, but it's possible that his origin story could be changed to be more extra-terrestrial when it comes to the show, especially since the pilot episode focuses heavily on the alien threats to planet Earth.

Adding him could also be a way of having Supergirl tied to the larger Superman mythos without having to have the man himself show up on-screen.

Appearing on shows such as Ray Donovan and From Dusk Till Dawn in the past few years, Browning seems like the perfect choice for the role.

Supergirl premieres in the US on CBS at 8.30pm EST on October 26.
