xThere’s no denying just how successful Amazon Prime Video’s original series The Grand Tour was following the debut of its first season last year. Taking the Top Gear trio of Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond following Clarkson’s dismissal from the BBC programme, the streaming service capitalised on their popularity and immediately snapped them up.

May, Clarkson and Hammond will return

May, Clarkson and Hammond will return

Now with a second season on the horizon, May has opened up about when we should expect the new episodes to start airing.

Speaking on The One Show yesterday (June 5), he said: “October is when you’ll first be able to see it [season 2]. But after that, you’ll be able to see it whenever you want, of course. I’m told to say that!”

Quizzed about the spending budget, he added: “As little as possible. No, it’s about the same, I would think. It is quite an expensive show to make. There’s a lot of travel involved. There’s a lot of crew involved. There’s a lot of tech involved, filming in 4K. but that’s boring stuff. It’s going to look largely the same, but we’ve moved it on a bit in a way that I can’t really tell you about yet because you’re the enemy and it’s secret!”

So whilst we don’t have an exact date for The Grand Tour, we should expect it to make its return a little earlier than many anticipated. Exactly where we’ll be travelling to this time round however remains a secret.

We’ll keep you up-to-date on the latest Grand Tour news as and when we get it.
