The John Bishop Show is to broadcast on BBC One later this year - a brand new eight-part comedy and entertainment variety show produced by Lola Entertainment.

Curated by John himself, the series is to feature a range of other acts with new faces, music performances, UK and international performers and the very best from the world of cabaret and variety. A big opening stunt is to kick off each show featuring John and his guests for the episode.

Confirmed for the series are top comics Hal Cruttenden, Jimeoin, James Acaster, Lee Nelson, Trevor Noah, Alex Edelman, Chris Ramsey, Doc Brown and Tanyalee Davis, with music coming from the likes of Leona Lewis, Florence and the Machine, The Vaccines, Courteeners, Striking Matches and James Bay.

Speaking ahead of the debut, John said: "I am really excited to bring this eight part series to BBC1. I am hoping the people at home will do as I would do if I was watching it and argue with their teenage kids about what was the best bit."

Controller, Entertainment Commissioning for the BBC Mark Linsey added: "It's fantastic news that The John Bishop Show is coming to BBC One on Saturday nights. John is one of the finest and most loved comedians in the country and we are so pleased to have him hosting a show that introduces such an exciting mix of brilliant new and established talent to the channel."
