Golf legend Tony Jacklin has reportedly signed up for 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

The 69-year-old sportsman - who is friends with the show's host, Sir Bruce Forsyth - has been lined up to appear on the upcoming 11th series of the BBC dancing reality competition.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Tony is a national hero and a great character. He's a huge signing for Strictly and he'll be popular with older viewers.

"He has a great rapport with Sir Bruce which will come across on screen and provide plenty of laughs."

Other stars rumoured to join the latest series of 'Strictly' include singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, TV host Vanessa Feltz, model-turned-soccer wife Abbey Clancy, Dave Myers from TV's Hairy Bikers and Natalie Gumede, best known for playing soap villain Kirsty Soames in 'Coronation Street'.

BBC bosses are determined to make sure the new series starts with a bang, having lined up legendary singer Rod Stewart and 'Wild' star Jessie J to perform on the first live show on September 27.

As well as a new line-up of celebrity contestants, 'Strictly' will move to a new studio in Elstree following the closure of BBC's old Television Centre headquarters and it's thought the new set will be even bigger than in previous years.

A source added: "This year we're going all out. The show hammered 'The X Factor' ratings last year so we want to cement that by making this year's series the biggest and best ever."
