Amazon Studios have put in their order for a second season of record-breaking original series Transparent.

In just over a week since it debuted, the dark Jill Soloway-created comedy has been streamed by more people than any other show on the service.

It now ranks as the most streamed title for new viewers on the service and has proved immensely popular with critics, scoring a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 91 score on Metacritic.

“We are absolutely thrilled that the response to Transparent has been so positive,” said Roy Price, Vice President of Amazon Studios. “Our goal is to create series that customers love, so it’s great to hear that Transparent has not only risen to the no. 1 series on Prime Instant Video, but that it’s deemed ‘binge worthy’ as well. Given all this great feedback, it only makes sense to bring the Pfeffermans back next year in season two.”

Jeffrey Tambor stars as lead character Maura, and Judith Light, Amy Landecker, Jay Duplass and Gaby Hoffman all make up the Pfefferman family.

Each relative holds their own personal secrets that were explored and exposed throughout the first season, and as they begin to figure out what they're going to become we're given a glimpse into their dramatic lives.

Amazon Prime members are able to watch season one of Transparent now through Prime Instant Video on over 400 devices, including iPad, iPhone, Xbox and more.
