The live-action evening has been created in the image of the cult TV show, recreating several of the key sets and mimicking the series' most well-known characters for an escapist experience which allows guests to step into life in the sleepy US town.

The original series aired from 1990 to 1991 and was followed by a feature film the next year, starring Kyle MacLachlan as Special Agent Dale Cooper who tried to solve the murder of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee).

Due to huge fan demand, the series is now set to return in 2017 for 18 episodes, but the one-off experience in London, which runs until October 17, allows avid viewers to quench their thirst for the programme as they ready themselves for the new set of episodes.

After being greeted with fake identities, visitors are urged to complete special missions under their pseudonyms and encouraged to explore a range of areas echoing the setting of the David Lynch-created show.

As well as being given the opportunity to investigate the surroundings - which include a living room, a shrine to the owls, a caravan, a bedroom and a blackjack room among many others - guests are treated to a specially-designed three-course meal perfect for the small town American diner in which it's served.

During the two-and-a-half hour event, there's also the chance to interact with enigmatic characters from the series and enjoy a sultry soundtrack of hypnotising tunes to take visitors back in time.

Although 'The Owls Are Not What They Seem' is not endorsed by the show or its creator, the entire experience will wow fans of the programme, giving the chance to get lost in a Lynchian dream.
