The 51-year-old rocker has allowed the 22-year-old pop hopeful - named after the character in 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' - through twice and chose to put her through to the penultimate round of the ITV talent show on Saturday evening (18.03.17) as he felt despite not being voted by the public she's "the most complete act" in the contest.

Speaking on ITV programme 'This Morning' on Monday (20.03.17), he said: "I don't like democracy. I get worried about this because I took Truly through twice. She gave an incredible blinding performance of 'A Million Reasons' and for some reason she wasn't voted through and I found that really shocking.

"I wanted to protect her for the final because people can warm to her and realise how incredible she is. I think she is the most complete act on 'The Voice'."

The Bush frontman was left "heartbroken" when 16-year-old Scottish singer Sarah Morgan's rendition of Lorde's 'Royals' fell apart when she forgot the lyrics mid-performance, but he believes she will go on to great things and insists she was under a lot of pressure at such a young age.

He said: "Sarah well, the thing is I thought that was really human, I've done it a couple of times everyone has, if you perform things happen and go wrong and it is as much a measure of how good you are and how you recover. The thing is at 16 it was an awful lot to ask her, she was so composed. She sang Whitney Houston, 'I Will Always Love You' and I was blown away by how composed she was and this one was one where I wanted her to step up and show her more youthful side. It just was a lot to ask. You could imagine she could work really hard for two years and be 18. She is set, she is so incredible and my heart was broken and again my faith was lost a little bit in the democratic process when she wasn't voted through."

Michelle John from Team will.i.am, Craig Ward from Team Tom, Max Vickers from Team Gavin, Jamie Miller from Team Jennifer will go head-to-head on this weekend's show after put through by the public along with Truly on Team Gavin, Team Jennifer's Mo Adenrian, Team Tom's Into The Ark and Team will's Jason Jones, who were voted through by their coaches.
