Wallander

Wallander

Wallander is to end following one final series.

Acclaimed actor Kenneth Branagh is expected to reprise his role as the Swedish detective one more time, as the fourth series - which is scheduled to film next year - will be the last.

According to RadioTimes.com, BBC and production company Left Bank Pictures have nearly adapted all of author Henning Mankell's 'Wallander' novels and will conclude the franchise by bringing the final two books to life.

'The White Lioness' will be adapted as one episode, while Mankell's final book, 'The Troubled Man', will be turned into a two-part send-off to the popular series.

The final two-parter will be written by Ronan Bennett, who previously wrote the Johnny Depp film 'Public Enemies'.

'Wallander' began in 2008 and there have been three series - each consisting of three 90-minute episodes - so far.

Kenneth is joined in the show by Sarah Smart as Anne-Britt Hoglund, while 'The Avengers' star Tom Hiddleston appeared in the first two series as Magnus Martinsson.

The show has won six BAFTAs including Best Drama Series.
