In a new interview with EW, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has spoken about how Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and his powers are going to fit into the new reality created in season 2, where other characters we may not have seen a lot in the past now also have big abilities.

He explained: "One of the themes is what does it mean to have power, what you do with that power, and is power ultimately corrupting?"

Could the EP be hinting here that we'll see a more sinister side to Allen this season, or is he focusing more on the other metahumans that will appear? It would certainly be interesting to see our leading hero take a different path to the one we're used to witnessing.

Kreisberg also assured fans that Barry would remain a metahuman in this new timeline, keeping his powers despite all of the changes around him.

The Flash season 3 premieres at 8pm on The CW on Tuesday, October 4.
