Game of Thrones returned to screens across the world on Sunday and Monday (April 24, 25) with the first episode from its new sixth season, and whilst there was a lot of action and excitement along with that huge Melisandre reveal, there was one scene which left eagle-eyed viewers scratching their heads and wondering if certain characters had the ability of teleportation.

Let's rewind a little. Back in the final episode of season 5, we saw Jaime Lannister board a boat back to King's Landing with his daughter Myrcella. However, he wasn't the only passenger onboard. We also saw Bronn and Trystane given their orders to also leave for King's Landing, with Bronn freed but knocked out and Trystane to serve on the Small Council in place of Oberyn following his death.

On that very same boat last season, we saw Myrcella tell her father Jaime that she was happy to be his daughter in a rare but touching moment, which turned into despair as she started to bleed from the nose, before she collapsed and died. Ellaria had poisoned the young girl by kissing her before she left...

With three remaining passengers onboard, we'll now come to this week's new episode. We see Trystane killed by one of two Sand Snakes sent by Ellaria who is fed up of 'weak men ruling over Dorne'. The only thing is, the Sand Snakes were NOT on the boat when it set off. We saw them on the dock saying goodbye during the season 5 finale, so their presence is close to impossible, save for a teleportation ability or incredible swimming technique.

So did we see the Sand Snakes perform a magical feat, or is this whole thing easily explained away?

Just before Doran's death, he was handed a note by Ellaria. On Twitter, it's speculated that the note said something along the lines of the following:

The note is from Jaime and basically says, 'I know Ellaria is responsible for the murder of my daughter who died on the return trip home. Because of this we would like the heads of Ellaria and the Sand Snakes, and we will not be keeping Trystane in King's Landing. He is returning to Dorne on the same ship I travelled here on.' We see only the back of the note Doran reads before his death, but it certainly looks the same.

This makes a lot more sense. We see Doran and Trystane's lives taken AFTER Jaime returns home with Myrcella's body. The scene comes almost straight after the one with Jaime and Cersei's grieving over their child, but it would be a lot more plausible to imagine some time had passed and Trystane had returned home only to be slaughtered, rather than being murdered by mysterious teleporting Sand Snakes on the boat making its way to or from King's Landing.

SO, what we THINK went down:

  1. Jaime, Myrcella, Bronn and Trystane board a ship to King's Landing
  2. Myrcella dies
  3. Jaime arrives home with Myrcella's body and Bronn (though Bronn can't be seen on the smaller docking boat)
  4. Trystane is sent back to Dorne
  5. Doran and Trystane are murdered

The only problem I have now with this theory is that the room Trystane was killed in looks a lot like a ship's cabin. However it's not out of the realm of possibility that the Sand Snakes boarded their own little boats to swim out and ambush Trystane just before he made it ashore.

It (almost) all makes sense when breaking it down, so what the audience should be asking now is - where is Bronn?!
