The pair have both been on the ballroom show since the first series 13 years ago, and always take time each series to congratulate one another on their longevity.

Anton said: "I'm not going anywhere. I won't be outdone by Brendan.

"Before each series, we share a moment backstage and say, 'Well done old sausage. Good luck!'"

Despite his many years on the show, Anton has never seen himself and his partner land a perfect score and isn't expecting to do so with partner Katie Derham this year either after judge Craig Revel Horwood vowed to be even tougher on the couples.

Anton told HELLO! magazine: "Craig told me he's going to 'bring back the bitch'. He said, 'I'm not giving out a 10.' I replied, 'Don't worry dear, you've never given me one before, so I'm not going to miss it.' "

Though he has been impressed with his partner in rehearsals, Anton will only truly know if he and Katie are in with a chance of winning after the first live show.

He said: "Katie is coming along nicely, but I'll only know how she's shaping up after the first show."
