Big Brother Canada returns for its fifth season next week, bringing some new houseguests to proceedings along with a slew of returning veterans. While we revealed the first eight contestants taking part this year yesterday, we’ve now got our hands on the final eight names of those looking to take home the crown during BBCAN5.

Big Brother Canada host, Arisa Cox

Competing for a grand prize of $100,000, a $30,000 home furnishing makeover from The Brick and a new 2017 Toyota 86, these are the final eight houseguests revealed to be fighting it out this season on Big Brother Canada

The Veterans

Cassandra Shahinfar, 23, Winnipeg, MB, Marketing Manager

It’s been under a year since Cassandra found herself evicted from the Big Brother Canada house, but after coming so close to picking up the winner’s title last season, she’s ready to go back in and finish the adventure in the way she had always dreamed. She says she won’t be changing her strategy in season 5, but she wants “to convince the other houseguests it is [changing]”. She hopes to ride in the middle, analyse the house and “play to each person”.

Dallas Cormier, 25, Saint John, NB, Lobster Fisherman and Welder

Dallas has lost the beard and gone for a more clean cut look for his second shot at the BBCAN prize! He says: “You can’t have a stone cold strategy before you see your fellow houseguests. You have to be a chameleon and adapt to your surroundings”, and admits he’d call BBCAN4’s Loveita Adams for advice if he were to get the opportunity. Fellow houseguest Kevin Martin is his “favourite BBCAN houseguest of all time”, so it’s going to be interesting to see if they align inside the house…

Ika Wong, 32, Thornhill, ON, Financial Services Manager

Ika says she has a lot of respect for future fellow houseguest Neda’s game, saying that her strategy was like hers: “We’re strong people who are set in our ways, and very loyal to the people we are working with.” Evicted fourth in her season after some letter-shredding drama, she now wants to know what winning feels like. “That’s all I want,” she says.

Sindy Nguyen, 27, Toronto, ON, Beauty Queen

This will actually be Sindy’s third time competing in the show, as she was evicted, brought back and evicted once more during her original season! This time she says: “I’d like to try to stay in the house the entire time! I’d like to experience it fully and be totally immersed.” She’s hoping to channel Jillian (BBCAN1 winner) during her time in the competition.

The Newbies

Demetres Giannitsos, 25, Edson, AB, Oil Field Instrument Technician

Describing himself as “obnoxious, confident and fit”, Demetres is hoping to get on the good side of the “stronger males” in the house. He thinks the first couple of days will be the hardest, as “there’s lots of anxiety at the beginning, feeling like all eyes are on me”, but thinks after he’s integrated into the house he’ll stop worrying about what he’s saying and who’s watching him.

Dillon Carman, 30, Madoc, ON, Professional Boxer

Dillon says that he doesn’t have a strategy going into the house, as “adaptation is one of my strong suits”. He describes himself as “intelligent, strong and caring”, and says that if he isn’t given a good bed to sleep in, his back will hurt. His BBCAN idol is Jon Pardy (BBCAN2 winner) “because he won, of course. He’s a really funny guy too – so entertaining to watch.” Let’s hope Dillon is AS entertaining.

Jackie McCurrach, 22, Port Coquitlam, BC, Professional Pizza Maker

Jackie thinks that mental competitions are going to be the toughest thing for her in the house, “because I’m very forgetful”. She’d love to travel to the future “to see what I’m doing”, and says Heather from BBCAN2 is her idol, because “she played the competition very well and I admired that she stayed away from the bullying.”

Karen Singbeil, 53, Victoria, BC, Real Estate Broker

As the oldest houseguest this series, Karen is hoping to take home the win for all of those watching who have ever thought they’re too old to take part. She admits: “You know that the old people are always the targets – the young people think we have no value. I want to set up some foundational relationships of trust and strategise with them and help them, so that they will help me.” She loves Cass from BBCAN4 and Gary from BBCAN1, so she’s going to be very excited when she realises she’s in the same house as them!

Big Brother Canada, Season 5 premieres Wednesday, March 15 at 9pm ET/PT on Global, then airing Wednesdays at 9pm ET/PT, Thursdays at 8pm ET/PT and Mondays at 9pm ET/PT on Global.
