As the first evictee from the Celebrity Big Brother house this January, India Willoughby has been stewing over exactly why she walked out of the infamous compound since her eviction last Friday (January 12). Appearing on today’s (January 15) episode of The Wright Stuff, the newsreader has now opened up about some of the experiences she went through during her time on the reality series.

Sitting alongside Stanley Johnson – father to current Celebrity Big Brother contestant Rachel Johnson – India claimed: “I think I do need to set the record straight and I’m sorry Stanley is here because he is a lovely gentleman; I’m a massive, massive fan. But the architect of my demise was, sadly your daughter. Within an hour or so of actually going into the house I was being misgendered left, right and centre. I started off politely just pointing out the reasons why that was inappropriate but it continued.”

She added: “There was this undercurrent, and I felt this from the start because of what Rachel was doing, the misgendering and Ann [Widdecombe], it sort of marked me out as the runt of the litter and made me a little bit different. So obviously if you’re continually being questioned about whether you are he or him, you are going to re-affirm your gender. You are going to point out ‘that is not appropriate’.”

Concluding that “the well of potential goodwill in the house was poisoned early on” by Rachel, she said she had a “difficult” time during her Celebrity Big Brother run, but did also over the weekend admit that she had “cocked up” her opportunity to go far in the competition.

Still, the show must go on and this week, it will be the male contestants only who get the chance to nominate their fellow housemates. Exactly who’ll be on the chopping block remains to be seen, but Big Brother has revealed John Barnes is one of those who will be in danger of going out in the series’ first double eviction.

The Wright Stuff continues weekdays at 9.15am on Channel 5.
