The 71-year-old presenter - who announced she was quitting 'Watchdog' after 15 years last month - is said to be one of the main targets of producers looking to complete the line-up for this year's show.

Anne previously claimed she was offered "about half a million" to travel to the Australian jungle but that she "just wouldn't do" it.

However, producers are so desperate to persuade her to take part that they're planning to add an extra quarter of a million pounds on to their previous offer, according to the Daily Star newspaper.

If the deal goes ahead, the former 'Weakest Link' host would become 'I'm A Celeb's most expensive celebrity yet, as the most they've paid in the past was reportedly £500,000 on tennis champion Martina Navratilova.

Meanwhile, other stars linked to a stint in the jungle this year include former 'Dragon's Den' investor Duncan Bannatyne, 'Geordie Shore' loudmouth Vicky Pattison and 'X Factor' veteran Louis Walsh, who is said to have turned down a half a million pound offer.
