This weekend, ITV’s hit series Dancing On Ice will be making its return with a whole slew of new celebrities taking to the ice for the first time in a live show. Former X Factor contestant and I’m A Celebrity.. Get Me Out Of Here! runner-up Jake Quickenden is one of those famous faces, and while he’s excited to compete, he is worried about one thing in particular.

Asked his biggest fear about the show, he replied: “Kicking my partner in the head with the blade on my skate. It’s bad enough kicking someone in the head without one! I’m quite big and I think I need to become more elegant. I’m quite clumsy. I’ve got good coordination but I am clumsy. My legs are long. That’s my biggest worry – injuring my partner.”

When it comes to himself, he says his time playing football in his younger years has prepared him for any injuries he may sustain while he’s on the ice, and that being in the I’m A Celeb jungle helped him get out of his “comfort zone”.

Then there’s the interesting outfits…

“I’ve been walking around in my fiancée Danielle’s tights for the last week, so I’m buzzing to do it,” Jake says. “The more out there the better! Anything they give me, I’ll whack it on.” We’re glad he’s up for the challenge!

Friends with Ray Quinn and fond of Chris Fountain’s history on the show, he’s looking to the pair for inspiration. “If I can be anywhere near as good as they were, then I would be happy with what I get out of it,” he muses. We can’t wait to see what he brings to the competition when the show officially kicks off this weekend.

Dancing On Ice returns to ITV at 6pm on Sunday, January 7.
