The Strictly Come Dancing team will be involved in a brand new project for Comic Relief - The People's Strictly.

Forming part of next year's Red Nose Day campaign, it'll raise money for charity broadcasting on BBC One in the lead up to the March night of television.

Featuring six inspiration everyday heroes and heroines from society - that friends and family have nominated - it will be the ballroom dance competition we've fell in love with, but without the celebrity names.

Accompanied on their journey by a Strictly professional dancer, they'll embark on four weeks of training that culminates in a performance to the nation in the Strictly ballroom, judged by the Strictly judges and presented by hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

BBC One Controller Charlotte Moore said: "BBC One is the TV home of ballroom dancing so where better to see deserving, real-life heroes and heroines experience the sparkling joy of Strictly and all for such a great cause in Comic Relief."
