There was quite the heated confrontation on Saturday night's (November 21) edition of The X Factor, when Nick Grimshaw questioned the authenticity of Anton Stephan's performance during the live show.

Now after being eliminated from the competition on Sunday (November 22), Anton has lashed out at the judge and Radio 1 DJ in an interview with Yahoo! Celebrity.

Anton said: "It's one thing, if you play records and you present records and you have pop star friends and you live in that world, that's one thing. But to go on stage and perform is quite something else.

"Now the three judges who absolutely understand that: Simon, of course, has managed global superstars so he gets what it takes to do that. Cheryl is a dancer, performer, singer and chart-topper herself, so is Rita, so they get what it means to do that."

Explaining his outburst on Saturday night's show during his judging, Anton said: "I was unhappy with what was said and I made that very clear."

Grimshaw had said at the time: "I just wasn't feeling that. That wasn't the best track for you. It's a very emotional song and it felt cold."

Anton snapped at the time: "Excuse me, but this is all real. The set and the outfit might be fake, but I am real. There's nothing fake about me."

Grimshaw then responded: "That's fine, but I didn't say you were fake - I said I wasn't feeling it. There's no need to be aggressive."

Asked whether he thinks his confrontation cost him his X Factor position, Anton said: "No. I don't think he's that powerful at all. It's difficult for me to look back at that without still feeling a slight sting."

The X Factor continues at 8pm on ITV, Saturday November 28.
