Although the Radio 1 DJ has been blamed for the show's falling ratings, after joining the panel as a replacement for ousted judge Louis Walsh this year, Simon has insisted that he is happy with Nick's contribution.

He told the Daily Mirror: "I think he's doing good. Is he being sidelined for Louis [Walsh]? No chance, forget it. He is 100 per cent safe.

"I did say to Nick beforehand: 'If it all comes on top you know what the score is. You will get good weeks and not so good weeks'. I think he is tough and he gets it."

Simon also revealed that he apologised to Nick after Sunday's (28.09.15) episode of the programme showed him slamming a laptop shut ending a Skype call to the DJ.

He said "I didn't know they were going to put that in. That was quite embarrassing. It was meant as a joke but it didn't quite come across in that way."

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Sinitta has been snubbed from Simon's Judges' Houses on 'The X Factor'.

The 'So Macho' singer has been a regular fixture at show boss and judge Simon's Judges' Houses for years but it's now been reported she will not be joining him at the palace in France he's secured for filming as he'll instead be advised on what contestants to put through by One Direction star Louis Tomlinson.
