Simon Cowell is "seriously" considering having Nick Grimshaw as a judge on 'The X Factor'.

The 55-year-old music mogul is said to be keen to get the host of BBC Radio 1's Breakfast Show on board for the upcoming series of the ITV singing competition, according to his fellow judge and close pal Louis Walsh.

Louis said: "I think Simon's got Grimmy in mind, definitely. It's something he's talked about seriously - he's thinking three boys and Cheryl [Fernandez-Versini] on the panel."

Although Simon has yet to announce the official judging panel for the revamped 2015 series, Louis insists he'll be sticking with four judges as he wants to keep the four categories.

He explained: "Simon wants it to work - he's brilliant, he's a perfectionist. Viewers want arguments between the judges, they want passionate people. Even this is all just a game - every year, who is gonna get the job and who isn't? Either way, he hasn't called me up and told me I'm fired! I've had 11 years and maybe I won't come back, but there's a difference between that and being sacked. And who says I want to come back?"

Meanwhile, the music manager admits he's excited to see how former 'Xtra Factor' presenters Caroline Flack and Olly Murs get on after replacing Dermot O'Leary as the hosts of the main show.

He added to heat magazine: "I think Olly and Caroline are going to be good and I think people will like them. It's new energy. I think you have to shake things up and make things different rather than the same thing every week. It gets boring - the show needs more fun, that's what was lacking last year. There wasn't excitement, which is why BGT ['Britain's Got Talent'] does so well. Simon loves that show."
