In the small village, the teachers soon hear of Louises misconduct and misdemeanours, and as a result she is punished. While the other girls mix and mingle with the eligible bachelors at the formal dinner, she is humiliated to be demoted to being the wine waitress, forbidden to talk to the other guests.
