Alan Fletcher says 'EastEnders' is his UK soap of choice.

The 'Neighbours' star said he would enjoy working in the UK if his role as Ramsay Street veteran Karl Kennedy in the Australian soap ever finishes.

Alan said: "I wouldn't mind at all. There are some terrific shows. Anne Charleston did 'Emmerdale' for a while and she loved that experience.

"I'd like to be in 'EastEnders', if I could play a cockney. I'd have to try and pull off a genuine East London accent."

Alan, 52, added he feels he has: "An enormous connection with the English TV and theatre world."

Anne Charleston played Madge Bishop in 'Neighbours' and then moved to the UK to play Lily Butterfield in 'Emmerdale' from 2006-9, while Daniel McPherson, who played Joel Samuels in 'Neighbours', took the role of Cameron Tait in 'The Bill' in 2003.
