Charlotte Bellamy Not Afraid Of Flames

Pregnant 'Emmerdale' actress Charlotte Bellamy was "relaxed" the entire way through filming dangerous scenes of a fire.

Charlotte - who plays vicar's wife Laurel Thomas in the ITV1 soap - was heavily pregnant when she shot the terrifying scenes of being locked inside a burning church, but says the rest of the cast were more concerned than she was.

She said: "I was fine - I treated it like a yoga class.

"I'm so relaxed about things like that. Everyone else has been more worried about my condition than I have!"

Laurel will be seen caught up in the blaze after scheming Sally (Sian Reeves) locks Laurel in as part of her plan to claim vicar Ashley (John Middleton) for herself.

I was fine - I treated it like a yoga class.

I'm so relaxed about things like that. Everyone else has been more worried about my condition than I have!

Charlotte revealed: "Laurel's horrified. It's an awful feeling, to be trapped inside like that with no way of getting out.

"It's made even worse by the fact it's in a church - you can't see properly out of the windows."

But while Laurel is caught up in terrible circumstances, Charlotte - who gave birth to daughter Teddie Boo Florence on October 20 - reveals that a good night's sleep helped her cope with the strain of filming while pregnant.

She said: "I had to be quite disciplined about things, and went straight home to bed most days after filming. A good night's sleep always helps."
