The 27-year-old star - who has portrayed single mother Steph Cunningham in the Channel 4 soap for the past 10 years - doesn't have children of her own but is fortunate to have three "wonderful" nieces and nephews to spend time with.

She said: "I'm lucky I have my niece, Gabriella, and my two nephews, Ben and Connor. I'm their cool auntie!"

Carley - who used to date her 'Hollyoaks' co-star Ricky Whittle - also spends a lot of time with her screen stepson Tom Cunningham, portrayed by Ellis Hollins.

The blonde beauty adores working with Ellis and is convinced both she and her alter-ego Steph have benefited from these close relationships.

She explained: "I love working with Ellis. He's so cute and well-behaved and comes up with the best one-liners and ad-libs. He puts me to shame! And looking after Tom has done wonders for Steph. It's helped her to be les selfish."
