Ian Reddington's Doctors Role

Ex-'Coronation Street' star Ian Reddington is to star in 'Doctors'.

The 50-year-old actor - who played Liz McDonald's boyfriend Vernon Tomlin in the ITV soap - is making a one-off appearance in the BBC TV show.

Ian will play entrepreneur Tim Clayden in the episode, which will be shown on Friday October 2 at 1.45pm.

In the show, Tim and show regular Dr. Jimmi Clay - played by Adrian Lewis Morgan - meet at a funeral of a mutual acquaintance.

Tim gets into a fight with a homeless man at the wake following the funeral, and Jimmi has to treat him because he has banged his head.

Later, Jimmi discovers the man Tim was fighting with is living on the streets because of Tim.

Ian starred in 'Coronation Street' for three years, during which time he married Liz but then separated from her.

Although Vernon tried desperately to win Liz back, he eventually left when he realised she was interested in another man.
