Jane Danson Says Ken Is Part Of The Family

The actress - who plays Leanne Battersby in the ITV soap - has revealed three-year-old Harry recognises her when he sees her on TV and is confused over Weatherfield stalwart Ken's role in his life.

Jane - who also has another son, one-year-old Sam, with husband Robert Beck - said: "Sam is only one, so he's far too young to understand. But Harry's almost four and will see me on TV and say, 'Ooh, there's you on the telly, mummy!' He doesn't completely understand, though. For some reason he thinks Ken Barlow is his granddad! I have no idea why but he doesn't seem fazed by it."

In the show, Ken (William Roache) is the father of Leanne's boyfriend Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) and grandfather to Peter's son Simon Barlow.

Alex, Chris and I are a close team. We've watched Alex develop as an actor and he really delivers. It's just like being at home, surrounded by all these boys.

Leanne loves working with young actor Alex Bain - who plays Simon - and admits she feels very motherly towards him as he grows up on the programme.

She added to Inside Soap magazine: "Alex, Chris and I are a close team. We've watched Alex develop as an actor and he really delivers. It's just like being at home, surrounded by all these boys."
