The actress - who plays barmaid Michelle Connor in the ITV soap - insists rumours the cast are panicking about their futures when producer Phil Collinson takes over next month are wide of the mark.

She told new! magazine: "It was recently claimed the cast are worried new producer Phil Collinson will axe characters. I think you're prone to being apprehensive when a new boss arrives, but we're all excited, too."

Former 'Doctor Who' executive Collinson - who famously got rid of Freema Agyeman as The Doctor's sidekick in 2007 - is said to be keen to liven up Weatherfield and has identified a list of possible of characters to ditch.
