'Coronation Street' star Anne Kirkbride doesn't wear a bra.

The 55-year-old actress - who plays Deidre Barlow in the ITV soap - admits she hates wearing the underwear as it's too restrictive but has to don one when she films scenes for the show.

She said: "I've never worn a bra and I hate wearing one because they're uncomfortable. But Deirdre has to wear one or else the sound guys get distracted. I'm a free spirit and always have been.

She said: Deirdre will forever be associated with those glasses, won't she? I love the fact the she wears them, because I can take them off and be me again

"I'm a one-off and I've always done things my way."

Although she isn't keen on wearing a bra when playing Deidre, Anne has previously said she loves wearing her alter-ego's famous glasses because it means people don't recognise her when she isn't wearing them.

She said: "Deirdre will forever be associated with those glasses, won't she? I love the fact the she wears them, because I can take them off and be me again."
