Dominic Brunt believes 'Emmerdale's Aaron Livesy is a "homophobic homosexual."
The actor - who plays vet Paddy Kirk, a father figure to Aaron in the ITV1 soap - believes the youngster has a difficult time accepting his sexuality because he dislikes gay people himself.
Speaking about how his screen persona tries to help the distraught mechanic - played by Danny Miller - he said: "Paddy tells him he just wants to help, that he knows what it's like because his cousin is gay. Aaron replies he's sorted it... he's going to live in denial and keep on having girlfriends. The problem is Aaron is a homophobic homosexual."
Paddy tells him he just wants to help, that he knows what it's like because his cousin is gay. Aaron replies he's sorted it... he's going to live in denial and keep on having girlfriends. The problem is Aaron is a homophobic homosexual.
Originally Paddy - who used to date Aaron's mother Chastity Dingle - knows there is something bothering him, but guesses Aaron has a problem with drugs.
However, when he realises the truth, Aaron launches a "vicious attack" on Paddy.
Dominic explained: "Paddy cautiously says 'You're gay, aren't you?' But Aaron denies it and goes to leave. Paddy shuts the door to stop him and that's when all hell breaks loose. Aaron totally loses it and viciously attacks Paddy. Paddy's helpless as Aaron punches him again and again.
"As Paddy lays on the floor, Aaron's sickened by his own action and his bravado cracks. Aaron's emotions come pouring out and he confesses he's gay and terrified. Nothing Paddy can say helped and Aaron packs his bags and runs off into the night."
