Deena Payne is delighted with her "quips and one-liners" in 'Emmerdale'.

The actress - who has just returned to the ITV soap after a year off - is pleased with the dialogue her character Viv Hope is being given, as it marks a return to the cheeky character she has grown to love.

Deena, 54, explained: "Coming back has already been so much fun. I love all the quips and one-liners that have brought Viv back to the way she used to be a couple of years ago, before all the serious storylines started. I felt that we'd lost Viv a bit, but now it's all back."

She realises that Bob's been working very closely with Brenda though - so she's the first person in the firing line

Viv has been languishing in jail after being tricked by conman Freddie Yorke, but makes a triumphant return to the village next week.

Despite being delighted to be home, Viv finds settling in hard - not helped by the fact her husband Bob Hope is desperately trying to stop her uncovering his night of passion with Gennie.

Deena explained: "She's actually quite bewildered, and feels very insecure and sad.

"She feels sure there's someone else with Bob, but she doesn't know who. She realises that Bob's been working very closely with Brenda though - so she's the first person in the firing line."
