Archie Mitchell will evict estranged wife Peggy Mitchell from her beloved Queen Vic in 'EastEnders'.
The controlling soap gangster - played by Larry Lamb - is furious when Peggy (Barbara Windsor) refuses to take him back so gets his revenge by making her and her family lose the pub.
Peggy and son Phil are struggling with funds and need to find cash to keep the pub so ask Ian Beale to lend them the money.
But Ian - who has a long-running feud with Phil - sells the loan to Archie, meaning the Mitchells fail to meet their repayments.
So evil Archie - who also gets engaged to Peggy's arch-enemy Janine Butcher - seizes the opportunity and takes over Albert Square's drinking establishment, leaving the Mitchells, including his two daughters Ronnie and Roxie, homeless.
He realises that getting the Mitchells out of The Vic would be the most hurtful thing he could do. It's not just another piece of property. It represents something.
The emotional scenes in the BBC soap will be aired on December 18.
Larry has previously told of how the Queen Vic has a deeper symbolic meaning to ruthless businessman Archie.
He said: "He realises that getting the Mitchells out of The Vic would be the most hurtful thing he could do. It's not just another piece of property. It represents something."
