'Emmerdale's Lexi King is "at rock bottom" and scared of losing her husband Carl.

Following devastating news that she has had a miscarriage and damaged her fallopian tubes - leaving her unable to conceive without IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) treatment - Lexi is to become increasingly desperate about her rocky relationship with husband.

Sally Oliver, who plays the machinist said: "Lexi's feeling the worst she's ever felt. Her hormones are all over the place, she's in a lot of pain after the operation, and she's lost the baby she wanted more than anything.

It's an extra blow which knocks her even further down. Not only can Lexi not have children naturally, but she won't even have the means to think about IVF.

"She's devastated, but also afraid that, because she can't produce children very easily, Carl's going to lose interest in her."

Lexi lies to Carl (Tom Lister) - who hasn't revealed to her he doesn't actually want to have any more children - saying that she has the all-clear from doctors. But the truth soon comes out and to keep her happy, Carl agrees to have IVF treatment, until the couple receive another blow, and Lexis is laid off from the Pollard and Pollard factory.

Sally added: "It's an extra blow which knocks her even further down. Not only can Lexi not have children naturally, but she won't even have the means to think about IVF."
