'Emmerdale' star Duncan Preston wants his 'Emmerdale' character to get together with Diane Sugden.

The actor - who plays Doug Potts in the ITV soap - thinks his alter-ego and the pub landlady make a great couple as their romance would provide some comedy moments.

He said: "I think they will get together. I really love Elizabeth Estensen, who plays Diane - she's great. But I do hope she henpecks Doug to death, so we can have something to work with. We can do some comedy if she gives him a hard time."

As well as working with Elizabeth, Duncan also enjoys filming with Charlotte Bellamy (Laurel Thomas), who is currently on maternity leave after having her third child.

He told Inside Soap magazine: "My 'Emmerdale' highlight has been working with the brilliant Charlotte Bellamy, who plays Doug's daughter, Laurel, during last year's cot-death story.

"There are more scenes coming up in which she is astonishing as well. I'll miss her while she's on maternity leave, but she'll be back soon."
