Tragedy will strike in 'Emmerdale' when a ferocious inferno sweeps through the village.
The whole village will be thrown together for these gripping and heart-wrenching episodes which will launch us into an unmissable 2011.
At least two characters in the ITV1 soap are set to perish in the blaze, which will leave a trail of destruction throughout the sleepy Dales village.
Series producer Gavin Blythe promises the explosive scenes - which will be shown in mid January - will be some of the most "dramatic and devastating" 'Emmerdale' viewers will have ever seen.
He said: "This is going to be one of the most dramatic and tragic events ever to rock 'Emmerdale' and no-one will be untouched by the fire's devastating consequences.

While it is not yet known which characters will be written out of the soap as part of the dramatic storyline, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), Katie (Sammy Winward) and even Betty Eagleton - who has been played by Paula Tilbrook for the past 13 years - will all be left fighting for their lives.
However, Emmerdale's residents will be horrified when in the wake of the disaster they realise the fire was no accident after all.
