Jaye Jacobs admits the 'Holby City' cast were star-struck when Clarke Peters arrived for his first day of filming.

The actress - who plays 'The Wire' star's on-screen daughter Donna in the BBC medical drama - says the arrival of such a big US star caused a huge ripple on the set.

She said: "It was the first time I ever saw the crew here star-struck. Usually they're too cool for school, but not when Clarke arrived on set. I was really thrilled when I found out that he'd be playing my dad, Derek. He was a total gem and we're still in touch, even though he's finished filming with us now."

She has a go at him for not being there for her when she was a kid. He then tells her he's come to terms with dying - and she falls apart when he's rushed to theatre...

The storyline sees Derek run away from hospital as he awaits an operation to treat his cancer but is soon found by Donna.

However, she is left devastated when he tells her he has accepted the fact he is going to die.

Jaye added: "She has a go at him for not being there for her when she was a kid. He then tells her he's come to terms with dying - and she falls apart when he's rushed to theatre..."
