Loui Batley has been shocked by how hard running a pub is.

The 'Hollyoaks' actress - who plays lesbian student Sarah Barnes in the Channel 4 soap - and her boyfriend Simon Lawson recently bought a bar in London's Kensington district and admits she hasn't found being a landlady as easy as she expected.

She explained: "We thought it would all be sitting around having drinks with friends, but the reality has been a bit different."

Loui - who has quit the teen soap but has not filmed her final scenes yet - revealed her new job has got her into trouble with show chiefs during renovations of the building.

She told Britain's The Times newspaper: "I went to work with paint in my hair once. The make-up department was not pleased."

Despite the career change, the 22-year-old star doesn't plan to quit acting completely and will be looking for London-based projects when she moves permanently to the city next month.
