Jennifer Metcalfe doesn't think her 'Hollyoaks' alter-ego is the marrying kind.

The 26-year-old actress - who plays feisty Mercedes Fisher in the Chester-based soap - admits her character would never be able to stay faithful to husband Malachy because she doesn't have it in her.

Talking about Mercedes' affair with her estranged brother-in-law Calvin Valentine, Jennifer said: "I don't condone anyone cheating but it's what Mercedes is all about. She's not the marrying kind and she's not the type to settle with just one person no matter how much she loves Malachy."

Jennifer also says she is enjoying playing Mercedes now she's back to her bad girl roots as it's much more fun.

Speaking at The Clothes Show Live at Birmingham's NEC Arena, Jennifer told BANG Showbiz: "I'm having lots of fun playing that side to Mercedes again, it's really enjoyable. I wish she wasn't cheating with Calvin, as he used to be married to Carmel, but it makes it a lot more interesting for me as an actress."
