Jennifer Metcalfe once refused to wear a skimpy outfit on 'Hollyoaks' because her stomach was too bloated.

The actress - who plays sexy Mercedes Fisher in the Chester-based soap - had enjoyed a wild night out with co-star Claire Cooper (Jacqui McQueen) and wasn't feeling her best the following day.

So when the wardrobe department wanted her to wear a revealing dress, she refused.

The costume department gave me a tiny dress to wear after but I pleaded and they let me off.

She told Reveal magazine: "It was Claire Cooper's birthday recently and we ate and drank ourselves stupid - so let's say my tummy isn't as flat as usual. The costume department gave me a tiny dress to wear after but I pleaded and they let me off."

The 26-year-old beauty recently revealed she would never propose to a man because she's very traditional.

Jennifer - who has been dating DJ Will Rogers since the summer - said: "The day I get married I'd want my boyfriend to propose. I'd never ask a man to marry me, especially after a few months. I'm not that desperate or needy.

"Things are going really well between us and we're having a lot of fun together. But we're not quite at the marriage stage."
