Julie Goodyear tried to return to 'Coronation Street' but "couldn't get her head around it".
The 67-year-old actress - who played Rovers landlady Bet Lynch on and off from 1966 to 1999 - decided to reprise her role in 2002, but quit almost immediately because she couldn't understand all the new characters and plotlines.

She said: "I tried to return, but everything had changed to such an extent, I couldn't get my head around it. It's all so different now."
Bet also appeared on the ITV soap briefly in 2003, but would never consider coming back for good.
She explained: "I couldn't return again but goodness gracious I'd do a spin-off - perhaps in 'Tenerifee', as Bet called it!"
Julie is now a full-time farmer, but has many fond memories of her days as a soap star.
She added: "I have so many memories and the public were lovely to me. I remember children's ending in earrings for Bet that they'd bought with their pocket money."
