Kym Marsh was terrified she would be regarded as a "paedophile" when she had to kiss her 17-year-old 'Coronation Street' co-star.

The 33-year-old actress - who plays barmaid Michelle Connor in the ITV soap - says she was horrified to discover her character would have to lock lips with Ben Richardson (Lucien Laviscount).

However, she was relieved when she found out it was him that attempted to kiss Michelle, because he had developed a crush on the mother-of-one.

When I heard about it I thought 'Oh no! They're not turning me into a paedophile, please.

She said: "When I heard about it I thought 'Oh no! They're not turning me into a paedophile, please. I can't play that storyline.

"It would ruin me completely. But it wasn't that at all."

Kym - who has two children of her own - said writers were keen on the story because they wanted to show Michelle is a young mum.

She added: "Basically, he's going to misread the situation and he does kiss her, but she doesn't reciprocate. She's absolutely horrified. Lucien was more embarrassed, bless him.
