Tina McIntrye is to attempt suicide in 'Coronation Street'.
The character, played by Michelle Keegan, is set to sink into depression as she tries to cope with the death of her father, Joe (Reece Dinsdale), who was knocked into a freezing lake from the deck of his boat in the Lake District weeks ago.
Tina will deliberately starve herself as she tries to come to terms with the passing of her father - who fans saw buried this week - and locks herself in her flat.
She is only found when her friend Graeme Proctor (Craig Gazey) comes to check on her. When she doesn't answer, he breaks the door down and finds her collapsed on the floor.
I thought, if I don't eat anything I'd just go to sleep and never wake up. That way I'd be released from my agony.
He then calls an ambulance, but Tina begs him to cancel it.
She tells him: "I miss my dad so much I want to die.
"I thought, if I don't eat anything I'd just go to sleep and never wake up. That way I'd be released from my agony."
Eccentric character Graeme then embarks on a mission to coach soap beauty Tina back to health, checking on her several times a day and delivering food and hot meals regularly.
A show source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Tina's heading to a real dark place but luckily for her Graeme is there to help.
"There will be loads of touching scenes between the two friends as she tries to get her life back on track."
