'Coronation Street's Molly Dobbs is to fall pregnant.

The shop assistant, played by Vicky Binns, is devastated to discover she is expecting a child, as she has no idea whether the father is husband Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) or her lover Kevin Webster.

The situation is made even worse as Kevin is considering ending their torrid romance after discovering his wife, Sally, has cancer.

It turns into an impossible situation. He cannot abandon Sally, but can he really watch another man bring up a baby he believes is his?

As the plot continues, Kevin (Michael Le Vell) will struggle to cope with the uncertainty of who the baby's father is. The scenes are due to air after Christmas.

Last month, Michael threatened to quit the ITV soap unless his alter-ego ended his affair.

The married father-of-two said: "If Sally's cancer doesn't end the affair and Kevin's got no remorse towards her then I'm leaving because I can't be putting up with it.

"If he carries on with Molly he doesn't deserve to be in the family unit, it's as simple as that."
