Samia Smith Still Grieves For Dad

The actress - who plays hairdresser Maria Connor in 'Coronation Street' - lost her father Joseph Ghadie to cancer last April, and she still finds it difficult to accept he'll never meet her five-month-old baby Freya.

She said: "He saw the very first scan when I was seven weeks pregnant, but he always said to me he knew I would have a girl. I'm sure he's up there somewhere looking down. I'm so sad about that. It's still really difficult not to have him around. I still dream about him all the time. I sort of feel close to him when I dream about him."

I can see flashes of my dad in Freya all the time - she frowns just like him. He would have loved her. He's very much part of her, which is really nice, because I'll never forget him.

The 27-year-old beauty - who is married to property developer Matthew Smith - takes comfort in the fact that she a brought a new life into the family who has so many things in common with the grandfather she never met.

She told OK! magazine: "I can see flashes of my dad in Freya all the time - she frowns just like him. He would have loved her. He's very much part of her, which is really nice, because I'll never forget him. "
