Samia Smith is having a "strategic" pregnancy.

The Coronation Street actress said producers have to o come up with ever more inventive ways to cover her baby bump on the set of the ITV soap.

Samia's character, hairdresser Maria Connor, has recently given birth in the show, so producers had to concoct clever ways in which to hide her swollen belly.

The 27-year-old actress has been playing the part of glamorous Maria for nearly 10 years and so is anxious to be swapping the Coronation Street set for parenthood

She added: "This is the most time I will have ever had off, so it'll be weird

"I'll miss everyone, but hopefully I'll be back next spring. I want to bring the baby on the set,"

Samia married husband, property developer Matthew Connor, in 2005 and is due to give birth this month.
