Sammy Winward still has to pretend to believe in Santa Claus.

The 'Emmerdale' actress - who plays Katie Sugden in the ITV soap - says her mum insists Father Christmas is real and won't allow her or her sister to say otherwise.

The 24-year-old beauty - who has a four-year-old daughter Mia with ex-boyfriend David Dunn - said: "My mum always goes overboard at Christmas, but in a really nice way. She still won't tell me or my sister that Santa isn't real and we're not allowed to say that he isn't. And she still does the stocking for us and for Mia. She always gets me nice presents. There's nothing in particular I really want this year. Apart from a car. Or some diamonds..."

Sammy admits she loves the festivities and her daughter is already letting her know what she wants Santa to bring.

She said: "Mia is looking forward to it, she wants everything she sees on TV. She screams the house down, 'Mummy, come and see this!' And I'll say, 'What is it, Mia?' wondering what all the noise is about.

And she says, 'I want that for Christmas!' She wants the Barbie and The Three Musketeers dolls, and the cat and the small version of the cat and the talking cat, so I've got a big list."
