In a high intensity double episode, the factory workers are excited to get to the awards ceremony and Steve offers to drive them there, but just as Sinead takes off her seatbelt to make a reach for someone's mobile phone, a pair of boy races force the minibus off the road, and it crashes. Back on the Street, Gary's accompanied to his court hearing by Anna and Izzy, whilst Yasmeen supervises Roy during his community service. Michael makes a comment about Steph eating for two which Luke hears, and he's horrified when he thinks that his sister's fallen pregnant.

Later, the minibus hangs on the edge of a precipice, and when Steve regains consciousness he realises there's a huge danger of it slipping over and ending the lives of all inside. Unable to deal with the situation, he walks away from the vehicle. Some of the passengers begin to regain consciousness and drag those that they can to safety, but with Carla still trapped inside, the vehicle lurches, and Tracy has to make a big decision. Meanwhile, Roy's sent home by Yasmeen when she finds out he's worked way over schedule for his community service session.

The crash scene sees the emergency services arrive and tend to the injured, and as Tracy looks on at a trapped Carla still inside the minibus, Kirk pleads with Sinead to wake up - is everyone going to make it back to Weatherfield alive? Steve's questioned about the accident, and as Michelle helps him to his feet he breaks down, finally admitting he's been diagnosed with depression.

Tracy and Carla's fate spreads through the street as Sinead is told that a bone is pressing on her spine and she needs an urgent operation. Billy's phoned by Eileen and told of Sean's situation, whilst Gary arrives at the hospital desperate to find out Alya's condition. Roy devises cooking classes for Yasmeen at the community centre, and David checks his bank account, noticing Kylie has been shopping in Freshco.

In the second episode, Beth and Kirk are anxiously waiting for the results of Sinead's operation whilst Gary apologises for not being there for Alya. Steve's defended by Michelle when word of his involvement in the crash begins to circulate, and Mary's told by Roy that he hopes the two can still be friends. Elsewhere, David, Eva and Max all leave Kylie messages begging her to return home.
