The 31-year-old actor has revealed his exit from the cobbles will bring about a dark and sinister side to the Weatherfield heartthrob.

Ryan has hinted his final storylines will see Jason's hate directed at the Rovers Return landlady Liz McDonald - played by Beverley Callard - who he blames for the death of his dad Tony.

The star teased: "It is very nasty and malicious - he decides she is to blame because she drove Tony out of Weatherfield. If she hadn't kicked him out, he wouldn't have left and would be here now."

The star first appeared on the long-running ITV soap on Christmas day in 2000 and says the usually good-hearted Jason's beahviour is the most "irrational" he has ever seen.

He said: "It is very irrational and unfair to give Liz the blame. It is out of character for Jason but so is his behaviour generally. He even calls her names and confronts her in The Rovers."

Before his exit, the hunky builder is set to turn his wrath toward Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward), during a booze-filled night at The Rovers and will attempt to convince his former lover Eva Price - played by Catherine Tyldesley - to give their romance another go.

Ryan is set to depart from the show sometime in June and despite knowing Jason's character is taking a turn for the worse, he insists he doesn't know the exact details of his dramatic exit.

He told Digital Spy: "I can't even begin to think about it. I don't think I can even answer that at the moment. I have no words for that one."
