The 30-year-old actress is to bow out from 'Coronation Street' later this month in what she thinks is a unique exit that will "shock and surprise" viewers.

She said: "I'm not just saying this because I'm involved but I don't think I've ever read an ending like it.

"A lot of the cast who aren't actually involved have also read it and say it's really something else. It's something that's never been done in soap before and the audience are going to get a real sense of shock and surprise."

Asked if she thinks it is one of the most shocking deaths in the soap's history, she added: "Yes, without a doubt."

Paula was elated when she heard what soap bosses had in store for her character's death.

She said: "There was a series of meetings but I was sold when they told me how and why it was going to happen.

"I thought, this is epic. You don't get to have that kind of exit every day and people will really remember it."

Paula - who is pregnant with her and husband Tom Shaw's second child - is excited about the future, but her mum is very upset she is leaving 'Corrie'.

She told OK! magazine: "My mum is devastated. She said to me, 'How strange that you're playing dead yet you have a life in you.' I guess it is a bit weird. I just hope my eyes don't start flickering."

Paula's exit storyline starts when Kylie and her husband David (Jack P. Shepherd) are planning to escape the cobbles of Weatherfield after police come to the conclusion that Jason's late father Tony (Terence Maynard) was responsible for the death of Callum Logan (Sean Ward), who is the biological father of Kylie's son Max.

But for Kylie, who committed the murder and then concealed the body with the help of David and his sister Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien), she doesn't get her happy ending.

In a teaser trailer, the Platt family can be seen saying goodbye to Kylie. After her suitcase is loaded into the back of the car, she gets into the front seat and is driven away.

As the camera shot gets wider, it is revealed the car is a funeral hearse and white flowers spelling Kylie's name are adorned on the side.
